What do I need?
An iPhone, and for each song two audio files at least: the track of the musician Steve replaces (bass, guitar, keys or voice) and the rest of the band in one track. Stem-separation tools give you both from a recording. Steve reads MP3, M4A/AAC, WAV, AIFF, FLAC and CAF.
How do I add a song?
Share the files to Steve from another app (Share › Steve), or tap + in Songs and pick them in Files. For each file, Steve asks which song and which track it is.
How does Steve start?
Press play on a song, then count in four clicks (drumsticks, a click from your drummer) or just start playing: Steve recognises the song and comes in.
Where should Steve's sound go?
Best: a cable from the iPhone to an amp or the mixing desk (a USB-C to jack adapter, and a DI box for the desk). Earbuds or a Bluetooth speaker away from the iPhone also work. Through the iPhone's own speaker, keep the volume moderate and the iPhone close to the band: if Steve hears himself louder than the band, he follows himself.
Steve is early or late
